TAPinto Phillipsburg: NJ Policymakers: Support Pharmaceutical Research and Innovation

By Jeanette Hoffman, Patients Come First New Jersey’s Executive Director

November is “Movember,” a month dedicated to raising awareness for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health.

While the mustaches associated with the event may be fun, the issue is serious: prostate cancer will impact one in eight American men, and far too many New Jersey families face the worry and hardship of this diagnosis.

Movember encourages men to talk openly about their health and get screened early - something we should all be promoting in our communities.

But awareness alone is not enough. To truly save lives, we must continue driving breakthroughs in prevention, early detection, and treatment. New Jersey is home to one of the largest life sciences sectors in the nation, and supporting medical innovation is critical.

New Jersey research universities, medical schools, hospitals, and biotechnology companies play a vital role in the global fight against cancer. Continued progress depends on public policies that foster research, support clinical trials, and encourage collaboration between academic labs, our public and private sectors.
