Advocacy Organization Launches in Missouri to Protect Healthcare Decisions of Patients and Consumers

Patients Come First will fight against obstacles standing in way of patient choice and well-being

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Patients Come First (PCF), a new patient advocacy organization, launched today in Missouri to fight policies that create barriers and stifle innovation and hope for sick patients and their families.

“Our healthcare system doesn’t work for Missouri patients and families,” Missouri PCF Executive Director Connie Farrow said.  “Unfortunately, it prioritizes the desires of special interests over ensuring patients and consumers can access the advanced and innovative medical care available in our healthcare system.”

PCF is a consumer movement aimed at putting patients and consumers back at the forefront of healthcare through advocacy, science, education and collaboration. Patients Come First Missouri (PCF-MO) is part of its national network of executive directors that will advocate for patients and consumers at the grassroots level.

From large insurers taking advantage of programs designed to help patients get access to medicines and care, to government policies that stifle innovation and hope for those with chronic illnesses, the current system simply does not work for patients. “All Missourians deserve to receive the care and support they need when they need it, regardless of where they live and how much money they make,” Farrow said. “By working together, we can remove the obstacles that go unchecked and stand in the way of making healthcare more accessible, higher quality and consumer-friendly.”
