NJ.com: N.J. courts need the same scientific standards as our hospitals

When New Jersey patients fill a prescription, undergo surgery or receive a medical diagnosis, they trust those decisions are grounded in rigorous science, not speculation.
The same standard should apply in our courtrooms.
This debate is not simply a legal issue. It is a public health issue that affects every patient who depends on innovative medicines, medical devices and future medical breakthroughs.
For patients, the consequences can be profound. Litigation fueled by unreliable expert testimony can discourage medical innovation, drive up health care costs and delay or prevent access to lifesaving treatments.
