Gettysburg Times: Early, vocal advocate for reform

Editor, Gettysburg Times,

I want to applaud Congressman John Joyce for his leadership on pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reform and for standing up for patients and community pharmacies in Pennsylvania.

As a co-chair of the GOP Doctors Caucus, Dr. Joyce was an early and vocal advocate for bipartisan PBM reform. That leadership paid off earlier this month when Congress passed PBM reforms that will bring long overdue transparency and accountability to prescription drug pricing. This action sends a clear message that patients, not middlemen, should come first.

For years, PBM practices have driven up patient out-of-pocket costs while reimbursing pharmacies below the cost of care, contributing to pharmacy closures across Pennsylvania, especially in our communities. The recent reforms supported by Rep. Joyce help address these practices and protect access to local pharmacies that many Pennsylvanians rely on for care and guidance.
